BOB SCHULENBERG: THE SECRET CINEMA

EXHIBITION DESIGN AND CONCEPT

Schulenberg is a very entertaining raconteur and writer and is a regular columnist for New York Social Diary, where he writes diary entries for specific years accompanied by his drawings and photographs.

The project concept is to print and display a selection of the drawings, including photos and text, on a wall banner, as a continuous, illustrated narrative strip.

The banner strip is divided into eleven 60”x42” paper panels.

The original sketchbooks are displayed open, aligned on a row of shelves, protected by Plexiglass display cases.

The drawings are printed the same size as the originals in order not to omit any important details, and are organized and combined in chronological order, creating a visual diary -- the way they are organized in the sketchbooks.

To complement the exhibition, visitors are able to watch the short movie, The Secret Cinema in order to follow the references of the artwork on the display wall(s).
